A Full-Bodied Way to Brew
French Press: A Full-Bodied Way to Brew

The French press is named after the device itself; using a plunger to separate brewed coffee from the grounds. It’s a simple method that produces a rich, full-bodied cup with more depth and texture.

What You’ll Need

  • French press
  • Kettle
  • Scale (recommended)
  • Coffee (preferably freshly ground)

Step-by-Step Brewing Guide

1. Choose Your Coffee

  • Start with fresh, quality beans. If you’re not sure where to begin, explore our selection and find what fits your taste.
  • If you’re using pre-ground coffee, make sure it’s suitable for French press — a coarse grind is key to getting the best result.

2. Heat Your Water

  • Water temperature matters: It controls how flavor is extracted from the coffee.
  • Heat your water to

3. Add Coffee and Water

  • Add your ground coffee to the press, then pour in hot water evenly.
  • Let it sit for about one minute. You’ll notice the grounds rising and forming a “crust” on the surface.
  • Use a spoon to gently break the crust and give it a light stir, once or twice is enough. Avoid over-agitating.
  • Place the lid on (without plunging) and let it steep for 4–5 minutes.

4. Press and Serve

  • Gently and steadily push the plunger all the way down.
  • Serve immediately, or transfer the coffee to another container.
If left in the French press, it will continue to extract and become bitter.
